Last month I travelled to Seattle and Vancouver with my girlfriend to check out some eats around the city. There was a lot of food involved. A lot. It was my first time to Seattle and there are some really amazing places to eat. Here's my foodie list to check out while you're there.

Nishino

Spicy clam mushroom miso soup with garlic butter
No trip to the West Coast is complete without a sushi or seafood meal. In fact, most of my meals revolved around seafood. Our first stop was to Nishino, located near Seattle's arboretum park. This restaurant was recommended by a friend and definitely worth a try.

Soft shell crab rolls Chef's choice sashimi platter

Green tea tiramisu
Piroshky Piroshky

Located at Pike Place market these hand pies are filled with either sweet or savoury fillings.

Clockwise: Chicken, mushroom and rice - Smoked mozzarella, mushroom and broccoli - Apple cinnamon roll
Taylor Shellfish

After a walk through Pike Place market, I couldn't help but want to indulge in all things seafood. Some of the freshest oysters and crab I've had! Delicious!

Happy hour (2pm-4pm) is the best time to eat your fill of oysters.

Dungeness Crab
The White Swan Public House

The White Swan located by the water has beautiful views and a great place to see the sun set. I loved this place. Casual with amazing service and great food. Always a good combination.

Local Albacore Tuna salad Pea Salad

Fried Maitake Mushrooms

Poutine O' the Sea - manilla clams, fries, chowder, bacon and scallions. This is definitely my kind of poutine!

Strawberry Lemon tart
(I think.....have I mentioned there was a lot of eating and not enough note taking?)
Salumi

This place a is pork lovers paradise. Their known for their in-housed cured meats and there's a very good selection of it. Line ups start right from opening (check hours before going) and go out the door especially during lunch time.

That's how popular they are!

This place is small and more of a take-out place although there is a small seating area at the back where you can enjoy your sandwiches.

I should have lifted the bread off the sandwich to show you the fillings (sorry). There was also no good picture to be had with that eye-catching table cloth, lol!
The sandwiches (Porchetta on the left and Prosciutto and Fig on the right) were SO delicious and of course we had to try a selection of cured meats. Go early if you can but I still say it's worth the wait if you have to line up.
Canlis

This meal was the highlight of my trip and also the most expensive. I was looking forward to dining at Seattle's best restaurant. I've ben told it's the equivalent of Alo restaurant in Toronto so needless to say I was very excited. Alo is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at.
Unfortunately, although the food was presented beautifully, the taste, wine parings, atmosphere and service just doesn't compare. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty food. It was good food. It just wasn't memorable. Bottom line, spend your money somewhere else (like Alo).

There was a lot of food and a long description to each dish. I wasn't fast enough with taking notes and they don't give you a menu at the end of your meal with what you've eaten. As I've mentioned, there were no stand out dishes so I've forgotten most of what I ate that evening. It was also very dark so sorry for the grainy pictures.

Other Eats
There was a lot of snacking and little bites along the way.....
Pike Place Chowder

The Pike Place market location was always busy with long lines. This one at the mall was almost empty. Pretty decent chowder.

Cafe Besalu

This bakery is delicious. Probably one of the BEST chocolate croissants I've had. Flaky and airy with a good buttery taste and the prefect amount of chocolate inside. My only regret? Buying just one.

The London Plane

Gâteau Basque and Buckwheat Canele, both are worth a try. Especially the canele.
Fran's Chocolates

Grey salt caramel and Chocolate covered orange peel
Molly Moon Ice Cream
Of course I couldn't leave Seattle without trying it's best ice cream.

There you have it, my Seattle food list. I'd love to hear from you if you have more to add to my list!
Thanks for stopping by!
