Stepping out of my Comfort Zone(s)

Do you have a "style" that you're comfortable with and usually stick to? I know I am definitely guilty of that. When I look into my closet, there are shades of blue, lots of blue (my fav colour), black, grey, taupe and white. I hardly venture very far with colours and usually stick to solids, maybe stripes or plaid but rarely prints. I like classic pieces so I have tons of blazers, sweaters, blouses, mostly in the colours mentioned. I'm always in jeans probably because they're safe and match with everything!

Finding a printed piece I like is few and far between. When I do find one, I second guess myself so it either gets returned or left in my closet unworn. I've made some good progress recently though, adding some new printed pieces to my existing classic style to try and step outside of my style comfort zone.

It's not always easy to step outside of your comfort zone for style or anything for that matter. It was hard for me to decide to start a blog and post pictures of myself for everyone to see. I had started one a few years back and then abandoned it because I didn't think it was good enough. Would people like my style? Be interested in what I had to say? Who would want to read a blog from an over 40 year old woman? Most successful bloggers are young and appeal to a much younger social media crowd. I can barely use this website and everything is a (slow) learning process so it usually takes me twice as long as a computer savvy person to complete! LOL

I've realize, being older now (and hopefully wiser) that whatever I do, I should do it for myself. I've tried writing about what would appeal to others to figure out how I can engage an audience. This lead to not many good ideas and then I realized I started this blog for myself in the first place. It was to be my personal journal because as I get older, I seem to forget a lot! This blog was always a place to express my opinions and feelings, write reviews about the places and things I love and share with you the things I LIKE. If no one visits my blog that's ok. I've done this for myself and it's up to whoever reads it to decide if they would like to follow along on my journey.

For me, it's my personal accomplishment just being able to get an outfit on, pose, take some pictures, download the pictures, edit the pictures and have this finished product! It's really not as easy as one might think and as a busy mom of two, this is a feat in itself so I hope you've enjoyed reading this and allowing me to be myself!

Thanks for stopping by!

xoxo
