La Palma

Toronto has more restaurants than days I have available to dine at them all. This summer I've decided to make a list of all the restaurants I would like to try and it's my mission to try and dine at each one.

One of the restaurants on my list is newly opened, La Palma. Chef Craig Harding and his wife, designer Alexandra Hutchinson also own Campagnolo, which serves, I dare say the BEST house made spaghetti all'amatriciana in the city. I always order two portions since one is never enough! I side track.....

Their new restaurant La Palma is almost across the street but the food and vibe cannot be more different. The decor is simple and bright and it has that relaxed "LA feel" with music playing louder than I would like but that's just a preference and I must be getting old.....

We started off with the La Palma, a house cocktail and a Venetian Spritz with aperol. Both were delicious but I choose the spritz over the cocktail.

The Menu
Here are a few of the dishes I ate:

Clockwise from top:
Grilled Portuguese Octopus, Cauliflower with Roasted Grapes and their 100 layer Lasagna.

Wood-Fired Cornish Hen

100 Layer Lasagna

Flatiron and Salsa Verde

Peas and Potatoes

Pizza:
Zucchini, Chanterelles, Ricotta and Lemon

Top: Caffe Corretto Mousse, White Chocolate Ganache
Bottom: Millefoglia, Vanilla pastry cream, Passionfruit and Mango

Overall, a relaxed place with good food to dine with friends. Their lunch and dinner menu are the same but I'll have to return for brunch and try their pastries from the bakery. One down, another "1, 001" to go!

Thanks for stopping by!
